In this interminable heat, I’m finding it difficult to sleep and am currently a bit of a narky zombie. So, it was very timely that this quote popped up in my inbox yesterday:
“Rest does not come with sleeping, it comes with waking. Real rest is possible only when we become free of illusion and we no longer struggle against life, with the idea that people should be, and do, what we want them to. So, be easy on yourself, easy with others and easy with the world around you.”
Perhaps it’s OK to be firing on fewer cylinders at the moment and let go of the struggle to always be 100% on it (or 110%, as we’re in the midst of World Cup fever!). What do you think?
Here's a photo of a sculpture pig having a rest in a flowerbed - from Greys Court #NT Sculpture Trail in June.
