This week's blog is about listening - specifically, listening to your body. It seems to be really common for people to ignore the messages their bodies are giving: exercising through pain, driving when really tired, working despite being ill... Ignoring your body and what it is trying to tell you is a bit 'lunch-is-for-wimps' and is actually a really outdated idea. I know lots of people who think it is a sign of professionalism and dedication to go without breakfast or lunch, to last as long as possible without going to the toilet ("Work is far more important than bodily functions") and to go to work with an illness - to then spread it to others. This isn't dedication: it might be insecurity, or even arrogance. Ask yourself: will the world stop turning if you respond to what your body is saying? Probably not... Your body is giving you a loud-and-clear message. Take some time to listen to it!
