My musical motivation to move

Despite doing it as one of my jobs, I am not particularly motivated when it comes to exercise. Lying down and doing nothing always seems more appealing.

Therefore, I’ve had to find ways of motivating myself to move, and music is usually top of the list. Exercising needn’t be for hours at a time – I’m a great believer in ‘little and often’ – so putting together a short collection of songs feels easy. Here is my current ‘Top Five’:

1. Warm up to ‘Don’t stop me now’, Queen.
2. Leaping around to ‘Titanium’, Sia/David Guetta.
3. Intense strengthening exercises to ‘Too close’, Alex Clare.
4. Conditioning work to ‘Doo Wop (That Thing)’, Lauren Hill.
5. Cool down and stretch to ‘Mykonos’, Fleet Foxes.
