Do you ever say, “I can’t do that!”? Do you find it difficult to imagine yourself succeeding? Perhaps you never try new things because you don’t think they will work out for you. Self-limiting beliefs are one of my favourite things to tackle. And as regular readers of this blog know, I love a pithy phrase to make my point! Here’s one I saw yesterday that made me go “Ha!” out loud.
“If you believed in Father Christmas and the tooth fairy for 10 years, you can surely believe in yourself for five minutes.” The biggest difference between successful and unsuccessful people (in all aspects of life) is that successful people believe in themselves and are determined to make the situation work for them; they don’t play the victim role and find reasons why a situation won't work. No idea will work for everyone, but many ideas can work for most people, if you believe that you can make them work. You have to be willing to not just think differently, but to also to experiment with new ideas and trust that you'll discover a way to make them work. Belief in yourself is the first step!
